Twenty-four engraved plates by William Miller, "said to be Turner's favorite engraver," [see: RUSSELL, Guide To British Topographical Prints, p.69]. BRYAN Vol.III, p.343 also notes that Miller descended from a old Scottish family -- "The great bulk of his work is after Turner, Ruskin speaks of him as the best of Turner's engravers." Views of Dunstaffnage, Dunoon, Falkland, Linlithgow, Scone, Carrick, Holyroodhouse, Lochmaben, Kildrummie, Dunfermline, Stirling are presented to name a few. Text generally clean with scattered foxing, some plates age-toned in margins, moderate extremity rubbing, upper front cover cloth slightly sunned, raised bands, spine panels lettered and decorated in gilt.
