The Baz-Nama-Yi Nasiri A Persian Treatise On Falconry

The author divides his text between Yellow-Eyed and Dark-Eyed Birds of Prey. The original treatise on Falconry by Timur Mirza Qajar was composed in 1868, lithographed in Teheran from which this edition is made. Phillott was a distinguished scholar and linguist; proficient in Persian and Arabic producing two Persian grammars, and contributing many papers to the Journal of The Asiatic Society of Bengal. Born in India to a career officer in the Indian Army where he too served, taking part in campaigns in the Zhob Valley, Hazara and the North-West Frontier. He also served as Consul in Persia for two years and from 1912 was lecturer in Hindustani at Cambridge.
