One map, chromolithographed frontispiece, title page, 22 chromolithograph plates (without hand-coloring) and accompanying black and white sketches by Lloyd. Published for the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company illustrating life aboard a P&O voyage from London, through the Mediterranean, via the Suez Canal with views of Gibraltar, Malta, Port Said, Suez Canal, and Red Sea. The author served with the South Wales Borderers in the Zulu War,1879, left the Army in 1882 to pursue a career as an illustrator. Endpapers creased.
