The plate sequence differs considerably from Abbey as the latter reports watermarks of 1811 and 1814; with this copy containing variations from the Abbey numbers. The last plate No. 50, "Academy for Grown Horseman. How to pass a Carriage," numbered 38 by Abbey......... "it is possible that the difference in copies can be explained by the fact that copies sold by the artist varied from those marketed direct by the publisher." The book was issued serially between 1806 and 1808. Our copy with excellent coloring, all plates clean and fresh. Bound by Riviere & Son. Raised bands, spines richly gilt in arabesque motifs, inner dentelles, covers have rectangular gilt fillets with floral decorations at corners, armorial bookplate of William Morley Pegge.
