Considered one of the masterpieces of the Pop-Up Book genre. Hildegarde Krahe, in LOTHAR MEGGENDORFERS SPIELWELT, notes Meggendorfer shows in this book all his pleasure, "The extendable circus is one of the masterpieces of this genre. In the detail accuracy, in the typification of the figures shows the love of the artist for his profession......all the characters seem directly take from life."
