The Ship That Sailed To Mars, A Fantasy

London: George G. Harrap & Company Limited, (1923). First edition. leather_bound. 48 pages. 31 x 23.5 cm. Limited edition, one of 2000, most were remaindered, and then destroyed in London in 1941. 48 calligraphic text sheets, and 48 illustrated color plates, all mounted to gray cardstock. Plates retipped to new card stock, a few small tears to top and bottom of the text pages, but not affecting the text. Timlin was born in Northumberland, England, studied art in Newcastle before following his parents to South Africa, where he completed his studies in art and architecture. He then practiced as an architect at the same time he worked as an artist, producing paintings, etchings and pastels of conventional subjects, in addition to the watercolor fantasies for which he is best known.
