Edited by Bishop Thomas Newton and dedicated to the Earl of Bath. With 20 stipple engraved plates most after Francis Hayman, including 3 frontispiece portraits of Milton by diverse hands. Paradise Regain'd with Preface followed by two page Table of Contents. Last pages in latin -- Joannis Miltoni Londinensis Poemata. Quorum pleraque intra Annum AEtatis Vigesimum Conseripsit. Offsetting of frontispiece to title in all three volumes. All images sharp and clean with some slight offsetting to accompanying text page, text in all three volumes generally clean and crisp. All volumes recased with original spines laid down, new endpapers and head bands. Modest rubbing and wear to corners. Raised bands, spine panels richly gilt in harp motifs framed in blind decorations. Contemporary full brown calf. Very good. 3 Vols. Item #23491
