Springfield: Will Bradley, May 1896 - January 1897. First edition. Stiff Wraps. Six of eight issues, and a duplicate of Vol.1#2 (June 1896. With issues as follows: Vol.1#1 [May 1896], Vol.1#2 [June 1896], Vol.1#3 [July 1896], Vol.1#4 [August 1896], Vol.2#2 [December 1896], Vol.2#3 [January 1897] . In the latter issue, five title pages designed by Bradley are pictured. BAMBACE A51. The first four issues were 5" x 10", Bradley then went to a larger format, 8" x 11" for the last numbers produced. Lacking is the fragment of the following and last issue which was never completed. A few complete sets were offered for sale by R.H. Russell [1901], and Harper Brothers [1903]. These were published without Bradley's consent or approval, and were never received by regular subscribers. Original art by Maxfield Parrish, Edward Penfield, the mysterious Ethel Reed, Henry Brevoort Eddy and of course, by Bradley himself appear in these issues. A brilliant exemplar of the American arts and crafts movement at the turn of the century. Also included the following -- the four page prospectus for Vol. I#1 with subscription card inserted, and two by the Wayside Press (four page announcement for Bradley: His Book For October) and (fourteen page "Portfolio Of Printing Being a Collection of Proofs of Some on the Commercial Works done at the Wayside Press in tan embossed wrappers, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, front cover fore-edge chipped with interior clean and fresh as printed. Advertising pages in three colors: red, black and green). In multi formats as described, four smaller issues near fine, two large issue nicks to fore-edge very good. Item #23640
