Oblong folio, 29 x 39 cm. Limited edition, copy 16 of 300 with color lithograph illustrations after Edith Harwood of which 17 are full-paged. Ashbee created the Essex House Press after Morris's Kelmscott Press closed in 1897, taking on many of the displaced printers and craftsmen. Between 1898 and 1910 the Essex House Press produced more than 70 titles. Ashbee designed two type faces for the Press, Endevour (1901) and Prayer Book (1903), both of which are based on Morris's Golden Type. Printed on gray stock in black and red. Rubbing to backstrip foot and front cover lower corner. Orig. beige cloth front cover lettered in black. Very good. Item #23713
