Queen Mab achieved the status of a sacred text to the chartist movement and this is one of the early unauthorized reprints, issued by the Carlile family. Their career as Queen Mab pirates was begun in 1822 by R. Carlile who reissued the sheets of W. Clark's 1821 edition (Clark being in prison for this publication) and went on to issue at least half a dozen more editions. With a one page publisher poem at end of Mab text and titled "To Harriet." Half title with interior contents generally clean. Front cover rubbed. Full contemporary brown calf, black leather spine label in gilt nicked. Very good. Item #24603
