Limited edition, one of 200 signed by the editor Philip Burne-Jones (the artist's son) on the limitation page. Bookplates of P.A. Mumm von Schwarzenstein and Radowitz-Mumm Kleiningersheim to the inside front cover. Half-title, title printed in red and black, single leaf with artist's biography, 18 pages listing and describing the plates; complete with 91 photogravures, one being a portrait of the artist and the rest reproductions of his art, the majority protected by tissue guards. Burne-Jones worked with William Morris as a founding partner in Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. in the design of decorative arts. Known as one of the leading figures of the second Romantic phase of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. His art often depicted mystical worlds full of medieval legend and classical mythology. Marginal toning to borders of the plates. Original decorative straight-grain morocco, gilt, neatly and sympathetically rebacked. Orig. black cloth front cover decorated and lettered in gilt.
