With more than 50 copperplate engravings and a host of wood engravings in each volume, each of the latter containing an index of plates. According to ALLIBONE, VOL.II, p.2273 [A CRITICAL DICTIONARY OF ENGLISH LITERATURE AND BRITISH AND AMERICAN AUTHORS] they were originally published in forty-two numbers. "Storer devoted himself to the production of works on ancient architecture, the plates of which, were drawn and engraved by himself, on a smaller scale, were distinguished for extreme accuracy and beauty of finish." DNB p.1311. The last volume contains a General and Alphabetical County Index to the Engravings. UNIVERSAL CATALOGUE OF BOOKS. Vol.I, p.34. Minimal foxing. A handsome set in an early Victorian binding -- three quarter green morocco and marbled boards with matching endpapers. Moderate edge-wear, and rubbing with a few corners bumped.
